Arkansas Preventive Nutrition and Physical Activity Summit

The Summit sponsored by the UAMS Preventive Nutrition Project and  Arkansas Department of Health Cardiovascular Health Program was held on Friday, March 8, 2002.  It was endorsed by Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, the Arkansas Department of Education, the Delta Nutrition Intervention Research Initiative (DeltaNIRI), and the UAMS College of Public Health. Educators, healthcare providers, community leaders and others involved in health policy were invited to attend the Summit to share current activities, build alliances and devise strategies to help Arkansans improve their health through diet and physical activity. 

Featured speakers for the Summit were: Margo Wootan, ScD, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Washington, DC and Jeff Sunderlin, MS, ATC/L, Nutrition and Physical Activity Section, Illinois Department of Health, Springfield, IL.
